Subsidies to foster hiring

Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Activa, launches the Crea Feina Barcelona 2024 grants with the aim of promoting youth talent and the competitiveness of companies.

In the current edition, companies and self-employed people can receive grants of up to €8,000 for each new contract of youths under 30 (the amount varies according to the gender or the situation of the person hired: unemployment, first job or situation of long-term unemployment, or risk of exclusion), and up to €15,000 in the case of hiring staff with a doctorate degree.

In all cases, the hired person must be registered in the city of Barcelona. The contracts must be permanent and full-time, except in the case of workers in situations of risk of social exclusion.

YOUR COMPANY CAN REQUEST THE SUBSIDY IF...

It has at least one work centre in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, where the hired persons provide their services.
It has been developing its activity for more than six months (in the case of recruitment of the line of youth).
It is up to date with payment of its obligations with Barcelona City Council (Municipal Tax Office), the Tax Agency and the Social Security
It is not currently affected by employment regulation processes, including temporary ones.
It signs and formalises a permanent and full-time employment contract. The recruitment may also be part-time for contracts with people at risk of social exclusion.
Contracts from 1st January, 2024 and that are still in force at the time of the request are considered.

To favour the maximum presence of companies from Barcelona and its Metropolitan Area, participation is limited according to the programme to be participated in:

Crea feina Joves: the grants that the same company can apply for in this call for 2024 will be limited to 3.
Crea feina Investiga: the grants that a single company can apply for in this call for 2024 will be limited to 5.

APPLY FOR THE GRANT

HOW CAN YOU APPLY FOR THE SUBSIDY?

To request the grant, it is necessary to access the programme’s management app and report the necessary data in order to generate the corresponding request instance.

GENERATE THE APPLICATION AND REGISTER IT: It is necessary to enter the Subsidies Application, select the name of the company or register it (if it was not previously registered) and upload the required initial documentation. After this, you should generate the application, complete the Declaration of subsidies received section and register it in the municipal procedures portal.
PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION: Once the registration of the instance has been verified, you will receive an email informing you that you have 15 days to attach the rest of the documentation to the Subsidies Application.
The technical office in charge will review the documentation and approve, deny or require documentation if necessary. Finally, the resolution of the application will be published in the BOPB (The Official Bulletin of the Province of Barcelona) and the corresponding payment will be made.

Later on, after the months established according to the line of subsidies (Joves or Investiga), it will be necessary to provide the subsidy application with supporting documentation of the subsidised employment relationship (salary receipts and contributions).

The deadline to submit applications is 31st October, 2024.

Generate the instance

Once it has been generated, it must be registered at the Barcelona City Council's Virtual Procedures Office, within the Activa Autòno+ procedure.
