THE DISTRICT OF SANT ANDREU
The district of Sant Andreu is divided into the neighbourhoods of Trinitat Vella, Baró de Viver, Bon Pastor, Sant Andreu de Palomar, La Sagrera, El Congrés i Els Indians and Navas. Located at one of Barcelona’s northern extremities, it borders on the districts of Nou Barris, Horta-Guinardó and Sant Martí, and with the municipalities of Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Sant Adrià de Besòs.
The district, of agricultural origins, industrial development and a strong tradition of commerce, is changing rapidly. The changes are improving the old industrial sites and are integrating them into the Sant Andreu we all know, with Plaça del Mercadal and the church of Sant Andreu de Palomar.
The neighbourhoods of Bon Pastor and Baró de Viver, in the District of Sant Andreu, are also part of the Eix Besòs and are surrounded by the industrial estate of Bon Pastor and Torrent de l'Estadella. The industrial estate is characterised by good train, metro, bus and road connections, as well as a good network of basic and strategic services.
THE DISTRICT OF SANT MARTÍ
The district of Sant Martí includes the past and the future of Barcelona in the same area, with ten neighbourhoods that all have something in common: a long industrial history.
The Barcelona Olympic Games transformed the city, and especially the District of Sant Martí, which was definitively opened up to the seashore, with the creation of new housing, green areas, facilities and networks of companies linked to the Information Society and communication. The industrial Poblenou became the 22@, the city's new technology district, combining economic activities with training and residential areas.
One of the historic industrial estates of Sant Martí, in the neighbourhood of La Verneda i La Pau, is still going strong: La Verneda Industrial. Dozens of manufacturing, wholesale commerce and transport and storage companies, among others, carry out their activities there. The industrial estate is characterised by its location between the 22@ and the future La Sagrera intermodal station, good accessibility and its proximity to residential areas.
