ÒH!PERA

Microòperes de nova creació

OH!PERA, microòperes de nova creació is a project in which design students from different disciplines create small-format operas to be performed at the Liceu in the same evening. The objective of ÒH!PERA is to promote young talent by complementing their training with learning in a real environment.

The operas tackle contemporary themes to connect with young audiences, updating the operatic genre. The stagings are innovative with a diversity of aesthetic proposals such as video art, classical scenery, futuristic montages, etc.

During the 2021-22 academic year, students from the following schools participated:

  • BAU, with the opera “The Fox Sisters” by Marc Migó and stage direction by Silvia Delagneau
  • EINA, with the opera "L'Ocell redemptor" by Fabià Santcovsky and stage direction by Marc Chornet
  • ELISAVA, with the opera “Shadow. Eurydice says” by Núria Gímenez-Comas and stage direction by Alícia Serrat
  • ESCOLA MASSANA, with the opera “Entre los árboles” by José Rio-Pareja and stage direction by Nao Albet
  • LCI BARCELONA, which designed the identity and graphic and spatial communication of the project

During the 2022-23 academic year, the following schools have joined: ESDAPCESDIIED and LCI.

ÒH!PERA, microòperes de nova creació is a collaborative project between Barcelona City Council, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Disseny Hub Barcelona and the city's design schools.
